Social-financial education AFLATOUN

Škola dokorán – Wide Open School n.o. is a part of Aflatoun International, poskytujúcej sociálne a finančné vzdelávanie deťom a mládeži na celom svete. Cieľom tohto vzdelávania je, aby sa jeho absolventi dokázali lepšie orientovať v zložitých otázkach finančného a sociálneho života.

In 2023, 32.8 million children and young people globally were involved in Aflatoun network activities through the national integration of social and financial literacy programmes and 3.3 million children and young people through the network of implementing partners. Activities are implemented by more than 400 partners in 110 countries.

Aflatoun was named one of the world's most effective and scalable innovations by global education non-profit HundrED as part of its Global Collection 2022.

Activities in Slovakia

The most important activitieswe carry out in Slovakia are:

• providing training and mentoring for teachers and professionals who deliver social and financial education,
• creating innovative manuals tailored for Slovak schools respecting the national curriculum,
• promoting networking and knowledge exchange among teachers, education staff and other professionals,
• cooperation with state institutions in the dissemination of knowledge and best practices.

In Slovakia, we implement the following sub-programmes::

• AFLATOT (for children aged 3-6 years)
• AFLATOUN (for children aged 7-14 years)

Children, young people, parents, their needs and quality preparation for their future active and sustainable lives are at the heart of our focus.

We started implementing Aflatoun activities in Slovakia in 2015. Thousands of children and their parents have joined the programme so far. A significant part of the participants in the social and financial education activities are from marginalised Roma communities.

However, the Aflatoun programme activities are suitable for children and parents from any background and with any educational needs. They use methods based on relationships - between children and each other, between children and the environment, and actively involve parents, who are an important part of the whole education process.
